FAQ

How do I sign up for your CSA / get your CSA order form? I’d like to be added to your list.

You can do so by entering your email on the footer section of the website or select the keep me updated box during checkout.

How does this CSA work?

The weekly box is updated every Saturday for the following week’s box content. Add-on produce also vary seasonally so we restrict ordering to only one week in advance to ensure you get the freshest produce as they come directly from the co-op. Your produce can be picked up at one of the community pick-up locations listed below on Tuesdays or Fridays. Because the locations are our amazing neighbors volunteering their personal residence porch/driveways as pick-up locations, you will only see the full address after you place your order. You will also get an email with full instructions so please ensure you enter your email correctly and check the spam folder if you do not get a confirmation email immediately after your order.

What are your order deadlines?

For Tuesday orders, the deadline is Monday morning, 10 AM

For Friday orders, the deadline is Thursday morning, 10 AM

But note that we tend to sell out of the boxes before the deadline and when it’s gone, it’s gone. It’s a good idea to order as early as possible.

Do I have to sign up for a recurring subscription?

Our CSA program is not a recurring subscription program. You have to place your order on a week-by-week basis and you aren't obligated for a box every week so you get maximum flexibility.

Can I swap out/replace/remove any of the baseline core items that comprise the regular or vegan box?

Unfortunately, we are not staffed to make individualized changes to the core items in the CSA farm boxes.

What neighborhoods have pick up spots? Where is the pick up location for XXX neighborhood pickup spot? What are my pickup instructions?

Once you submit your order, you will receive an automatic order confirmation email with your pick-up details. Please be sure you type your email address correctly so that you receive the order confirmation email with these details.  That includes the location address and details about your pick up, which will all be noted at the top of the body of your confirmation email.  We do not list the pick up address on the order form, as the neighborhood pick-up locations are all personal residences.

We advise our customers to pick up their boxes as early as they can in the mornings, because the produce and other perishable items will sit outside. Also, we want to be considerate of your generous neighbors hosting the pickup locations so they are not then worrying about the boxes sitting outside all day. So, please do pick up in a timely manner.  Your boxes will always be available for you to pickup at the times listed above. We will ONLY email you on the morning of the pickup day IF your boxes will be delayed for any reason. If you are unable to pick up your box by 6:30 PM on your pick up day, your box will become the property of the host of your pick-up location. Thank You!

Are you adding any more pick up locations?

Yes if you think you have 5-10 neighbors who would be interested as well reach out to us.

Do you deliver?

Sorry, we are no longer doing any home deliveries, effective May 9.

Will you take back empty boxes?

Most but not all of our pick up locations can store empty flattened boxes for the farm to pick up and reuse.  So in most cases, yes - but please flatten the empty boxes and leave them neatly wherever the pick-up location host instructs you to (many of them are posting notes by the boxes with directions on where to leave your empty flattened box). The pick up locations that are not able to store boxes are Capitol Hill East/H Street and Clarendon/Arlington VA. Please take your CSA boxes with you every time if you pick up at either of those locations.

I didn’t get xxx item. . . will I be refunded or can I get it in my next box?

If we run out of a core box item, we’ll replace it with something else from the farm. That’s what you’ll get in that week’s box. We do not issue refunds for replaced core box items. However, if we run out of an add-on item, you will be notified of a comparable replacement or directly refunded by Earth N Eats. Now that we are on Shopify and have inventory control, we should have much better control of add on item stock so what you see as available to order should be in stock.

Do you take order payments by Venmo anymore?

When you use the order form, you’ll be sent to PayPal where you can pay using a credit card or your bank information. This happens before final submission and order confirmation. We do not take payments by Venmo anymore.

Is the produce pre-washed?  It looks so clean!

The produce is NOT pre-washed, though Earth N Eats does an amazing job of keeping the produce extremely clean. We advise that you wash your veggies before eating/cooking them!  A light rinse will do.
